Ivory Pod Vase - Signature Collection
Pod vases are reminiscent of native gum nuts. Hand crafted from a white raku and washed with white porcelain slip which creates fine lines and surface cracks. This decorative little vase is just the right size for a larger bloom or a small, handpicked posy.
These simple and organic handmade forms are a celebration of the tactile nature of clay. Inspired by Sydney's urban forest, and created as a reminder "the environment" is everywhere. These vases are left raw on the exterior as an ode to nature as the original artist.
The Signature Collection consists of one off and small batch functional art pieces. They are an amalgamation of happy creating, experimenting, time, care and contemplation. Each piece has been individually hand crafted through traditional and contemporary ceramic techniques and is completely unique.
Premium food safe reactive commercial glazes have been used, creating unique patterning on each piece. Inconsistencies are a feature of the firing process and the expression of the maker. Raw sections on tableware have been sealed with a liquid quartz which is invisible, non-toxic and food safe. Unglazed surfaces are sanded twice during firing to ensure pieces are gentle on hands and surfaces, however care should be taken when used in scratch-prone areas. All pieces are dishwasher and microwave safe however hand washing is recommended.
Because of the handmade nature of these bowls, each set has its own unique markings and you can expect variation from the images supplied.
